2020 SCNZ Conference POSTPONED

2020 SCNZ CONFERENCE POSTPONED

The Board of Sister Cities New Zealand has today teleconferenced to discuss the upcoming Conference in Ashburton in April.

Given a lot has happened around the Coronavirus Pandemic since our last update, the Board has decided to postpone the 2020 SCNZ Conference until August of this year when hopefully things are more settled and clear.

At this stage we are looking at 6-8 August.

For those who have already purchased their air ticket, Air New Zealand is offering credits to allow people to re book later in the year.

We will still be holding the Annual General Meeting on the 1st of May, however the venue will be in Wellington and the Board is investigating options for online participation through Skype and Webinar technology.

The AGM is required to present and adopt the Audited Annual Accounts, the 20/21 Business plan and Election of Officers. We will communicate again with members when the details of the AGM are finalised.

We will also discuss the postponement of the Conference with members at the AGM.

It is important for us to share information/stories how to deal with this difficult situation and how we can re-establish our international network.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We are certainly in uncharted waters at the moment.

Our thoughts are also with those sister city countries that have been affected by this virus, however by all supporting each other we will see this through.

Warmest Regards

Hiromi Morris
President
